Everyone should have a dental checkup regularly. This is to make sure that your oral health is at its best. Any dental office will recommend that you should get dental checkups twice a year. When you come to visit us twice a year, we can actually monitor and catch any dental issues that could happen in that span of months.
What happens during a dental checkup for a new patient at Rainbow Dental Center?
When you come to our office for a dental checkup, if you're a new patient, you usually come in to have the comprehensive exam, meaning I have to look at everything in your mouth. I need to check your jaw. I need to check everything. I don't only check your teeth. I also check for any signs of cancer. Early detection of cancer is very important. Checking your tongue, under your tongue, everything.
What is included in a dental checkup?
We will have a series of dental X-rays that we'll take. If you have time, we will also do your dental cleaning and measure all your gums. It all comes as part of your dental checkup.
We will sit down, and I will discuss all my findings so you know what's going on in your mouth, and then we can have a proper treatment plan. Basically, I'm checking everything in your mouth, from your gums to your tissues under your tongue, basically everything. We will also focus on and discuss any current issues or concerns that you might have.
How long does a dental checkup take and does it hurt?
It usually takes about an hour to have all your dental X-rays taken and do a comprehensive dental exam, and we usually scan your mouth, and then you're going to have your cleaning. And, no, it doesn't hurt at all! It's usually very easy. It's just like you and me having a conversation about your oral health and your well-being.
